WHAT IS IT TO BE SIGNIFICANT?

We believe that there are four issues in the UK third-sector:

  • There is only limited access to top-class learning and therefore leadership.

  • Ambition and vision are limited and are not supported and applauded.

  • Social equality is not high enough up the political agenda.

  • Mindset is survival.

To be significant is:

  • to lead beyond your personal, organisational and societal limitations;

  • to include, love and support everyone no matter what their story; and

  • to understand that vulnerability is a strength, not a weakness;  accepting that real change comes from a trusting, but vulnerable space. Being comfortable enough to be in this space, where you will be empowered to confront and lead through your limitations.

“Success is when I add value to myself. Significance is when I add value to others.”

John Maxwell

“The capacity to care is what gives life its most deepest significance.”

Pablo Casals

“Be the change you want to see in the world.”

Mahatma Gandhi

“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”

Martin Luther King Jr.

“True value of one’s life can be measured if the person is able to make a significant difference in someone’s life.”

Jamie Smartkins

“Successful people become great leaders when they learn to shift focus from themselves to others.”

Marshall Goldsmith

“Our mission in life should be to make a positive difference, not to prove how smart or right we are.”

Peter Drucker

“What will matter is not your success but your significance.”
